Join us at our event on June 6th!
To learn more about how to reach and engage the audience of the future
Every month we update you on developments at C.Tru, a start-up within Mediahuis that is completely focused on reaching and engaging social natives with journalism.
First of all, we would like to invite you to the first C.Tru event! On June 6th at 3 pm, we will gather in Amsterdam to discuss how editorial teams can reach and engage the audiences of the future. Unable to attend in person? The event will be live streamed and recorded, so you can watch remotely or catch up later, but being there live is certainly the most enjoyable option. Here's what we have planned:
Liat Fainman from FT Strategies will talk about their Next Gen News research, which was recently published (and you may have read about it in the previous newsletter). To understand the future landscape of news consumption, they conducted interviews with young individuals from Nigeria, India, and the US, and sought insights from industry experts. Their research underscores a widening gap between news media offerings and the preferences of young consumers, offering valuable solutions and practical advice for editorial teams to bridge this divide.
Danuta Bregula and Liesbeth Nizet have authored a new edition of their report on how publishers can grow with today’s youth following research they have done in Asia. They will share their latest findings at the event. Subsequently, we will engage in discussions with Liat, Danuta, and GerBen van ’t Hek (Mediahuis’ Group Newsroom Strategy Editor) on how to integrate these insights into editorial practices. Of course, ample time will be allocated for questions and discussions.
Finally, we will unveil our progress and achievements with C.Tru thus far, providing an exclusive glimpse of our latest prototype. Afterwards you could join us for a drink! We would be delighted if you could join us! Bring along all your colleagues! Please remember to register in advance via this link, as spaces are limited.
Design Sprint
Over the past few weeks, the C.Tru editorial team has truly sprung into action. To kick things off, we held a two-day Design Sprint led by Laurens Vreekamp. It was incredibly enjoyable and enlightening to conduct the sprint under his guidance, and we are very pleased with the outcome.
On the first day, we focused on clearly mapping out ideas and challenges, followed by creating initial sketches. The second day saw us building upon these ideas, and in the afternoon, we hit the streets with our first prototypes. It was a valuable learning experience.
Interested in learning more about our prototypes? Get in touch with us, and we'll show you what we've been working on.

Help us finding a product designer!
Before we wrap up the newsletter, we have a request for you: we are in search of a creative product designer who can assist us in establishing a brand identity and translating these ideas into designs, initially for social media and later for a website. Are you or do you know someone who fits the bill? Please let us know! You’ll find the vacancy (in Dutch) here.
